Eckert’s Gardening Tips:
Plants for Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds are some of the fastest flying birds!
By planting the right flowers, you can attract them to your garden
and actually encourage them to linger in your landscape. Then you
can really enjoy the speed and beauty of this most amazing bird!
"Hummers" need food, water, shelter and wind
protection. Be sure to provide these if you want them to linger!
Hummingbirds prefer deep-throated (tubular or trumpet shaped) flowers
in red, pink and orange. However, they do visit flowers in other
colors as long as the flower is a good source of nectar. Fragrance
of the flower is unimportant.
