The Official Groundbreaking and Celebration of 100 Years

The official groundbreaking ceremony for our 2010 expansion took place this past Wednesday evening. As part of the program, members of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth generations traveled through time with the audience, reminiscing of what Eckert’s has been, what it is today, and what this expansion can mean for the future. Mayor Mark Eckert emphasized the importance of Eckert’s, as the business brings destination travellers to Belleville who otherwise would not come visit the city. Mindy Schmidt, a former employee and loyal customer was kind enough to tell the audience of her childhood memories of Eckert’s and told of her first job as a server in the Country Restaurant. Now a mother herself, Mindy brings her own children to the farm, creating a whole new generation of memories. Other guests of honor included Dennis McGrath of The Lawrence Group and Bruce Holland of Holland Construction Services. Pictures of the event can be found on our facebook page.
