From full-bodied wines and cozy casseroles to strawberry smoothies and silly sandwiches, there’s a lot to learn and experience at Eckert’s.

Class Procedures & Policies

  • Enrollment is on a first come basis.
  • Payment is required in order to register for a class
  • All adult classes are demonstration based unless otherwise noted in description. Kids, Mommy & Me and Teen Classes are all hands on.
  • Cancellation Policy: With a 7 day notice you will receive a full refund, 3-6 day notice you will receive an Eckert gift certificate for the amount of the class and with a 2 day or less notice a refund will not be issued.
  • If we cancel a class, you will be notified as soon as possible and a complete refund will be issued.
  • Eckert's reserves the right to substitue instructors, recipes or menu items as necessary.

WINE CLASSES - 2013

January 10

12 Wines, 6 Cheeses, 1 Night

Everyone had so much fun with our last “12 wines” class we decided to do it again with different wines and cheeses! We’ll pair 2 wines with 1 cheese so that you can find your favorite palette pleasers! This side by side tasting provides the perfect opportunity to compare and contrast the unique traits of wine.

Wines and Foods of the World

Delight your sweetheart or dear friend with a dinner and wine tasting with choices from across the globe. We will feature food and wine pairing from a variety of countries – Spain, Germany and France to name a few. Come join us for five delightful courses of food and wine!

Sweet Wines

Taste and learn about sweet and semi-sweet wines made from grapes and other fruits. We’ll pair a bite of food with each wine so that you can fully appreciate the wines. This is the perfect class for the beginning wine drinker or the sweet wine lover.

Que, Syrah, Syrah

Syrah has been gaining popularity in the wine market in recent years. Let’s taste Syrah from 5 different wineries to learn how this varietal differs regionally. Taste for yourself and learn why a variety of foods from savory to sweet pair perfectly with Syrah.

January 13

Slow Cooking & Roasting

Slow cooking brings rich flavors to meats and vegetables. Learn how to warm up the cold days of winter with pork and beef roasts as well as soups. We will share recipes for a Dutch oven and a crock pot. Taste our favorite winter sides that make a complete and comforting meal.

February 1

Ladies Night Out - A Trip to Italy

Join Jill Eckert Tantillo for a night of Italian Fun! Jill will share delicious recipes using a variety of pastas and a few Italian wines. We’ll also taste some Italian cheeses. Join us for this fun celebration of the flavors of Italy.

Cook in Our Kitchen - Hands On!

Come prepared to make your own meal in the classroom. We’ll get your hands on a variety of kitchen tools as you make chicken in parchment paper, roasted vegetables with orzo, a fresh greens salad and mini fruit tarts. Preparing these tasty recipes will provide a fun way to learn a few of our kitchen secrets first-hand. (Aprons and cooking supplies will be provided for use during the class.)

Cooking Basics - New!!

Calling all new cooks! From college students to newlyweds, this class will appeal to anyone who wants to learn basic kitchen techniques. Learn how to sear, roast and stir fry. We’ll send you home with 10 recipes so that dinner will be easy and fun to prepare at home.

March 9

Homemade Baby Food

Making your own baby food is rewarding, affordable, and surprisingly easy! Using tools found in most kitchens, a little time, and a lot of love you can make batches of food to feed your little one. This class will show you how to make Stage 1, 2 and 3 foods that are nutritious and delicious. Food safety considerations and bulk food storage will also be discussed. A great class for new parents, working moms, grandparents and daycare providers!

Time at the Table - Hands On!

We believe family memories are created around the dinner table. Dinner time is a great time to reconnect and family dinners often lead to a healthier lifestyle. In our first-ever Family Night Cooking Class, families will learn how eating foods in a rainbow of colors leads to a well-balanced meal. Come hungry and come ready to learn how to make some delicious dinner foods while you have fun with your family!

Mexican Medley - Hands On!

Come prepared to make your own meal in the classroom. We’ll get your hands on a variety of kitchen tools and learn some food preparation techniques as you make salsas, quesadillas, enchiladas and more. We’ll make a little sangria to sip too! (Aprons and cooking supplies will be provided for use during the class.)

Xtra Fancy Tea Party - New!

It’s tea time and you’re the hostess! We’ll get ready for our tea party by creating invitations, setting the table with some fancy décor created by you, and enjoying some delicious tea time snacks. Come dressed in your favorite hat, gloves, jewelry, or whatever makes you feel extra fancy!

Taste four winter-warming soups! We’ll prepare Chicken Corn Chowder and a crowd-pleasing Vegetarian Chili. We’ll also sample “heat and eat” soups that make lunch or dinner a snap. Toss together our simple greens salad recipe and you’ll have a complete meal in minutes.
