Eckert’s Wine Basics

Eckert’s Wines

Whether you are a sweet wine lover or a dry wine lover, you will find the perfect bottle of wine to go with your meal in Eckert’s Wine Department.

Because many of our family members are true wine lovers, we enjoy searching out excellent wines at great prices. We talk about wine, read about wine, and enjoy traveling to wine producing regions to insure that our selections represent a diversity of varietals and tastes. Eckert’s wine cellar offers more than 200 labels of wines. We continuously add new labels and always welcome customer suggestions.

Fruit Wines

We are proud to feature Peachy Wine by Montelle Winery. Peachy is a sweet wine produced in Missouri exclusively with Eckert’s peaches grown on our Illinois farms. Another favorite wine is Illinois Cellars’ Apple Wine made with Eckert’s apples. This semi-dry wine is full of apple aromas and finishes crisp and clean.

Rich Reds

Chris and Lary Eckert are big fans of rich red cabernets and full-bodied pinot noirs. A few family favorites featured in our wine department include Robert Sinskey Pinot Noir, Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon and Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Free Wine Tastings

Every Saturday and Sunday our wine specialists sample wine. Stop in and try our featured wines of the season. Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you select wines that will complete your meal.

Case Pricing

We always offer a case discount to customers wanting to purchase 12 or more bottles of wine. Mix and match your case and receive a 10% case discount.

Just the Right Temperature

To store wines: Keep your unopened wine bottles in a cool, dark place—something under 80°F. For long-term wine storage, wine is best when kept in a cool, dark place ideally 55°F to 65°F.

To serve wines: Red wine is at its best when served at room temperature. Try to serve red wines around 65 degrees F. If you place the bottle in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes before serving, it should be perfect!  For white wines, chill well and pull out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before serving.
