Apple Picking Tours: Belleville & Grafton

Learn about Life on the Orchard

Eckert's welcomes families, school groups and youngsters to come and learn about life on the orchard. Apple picking tours at our Belleville, Millstadt, Grafton and Versailles farms are designed to teach students all about the process of growing fruit from scratch using generations-old, sustainable farming practices. And trust us, grown-ups will be fascinated, too! If you're looking for the perfect fall field trip that's ideal for kids in pre-K through fourth grade, Eckert's is the best place to do it!

We know you'll be surprised to learn all about how apples are grafted, grown and picked. Did you know that apples are some of the most variable fruits out there, with 7,500 varieties grown throughout the world? Oh, and this tour's a tasty one, too! Students get to come home with a small bag of apples for themselves and each classroom group gets to take home one free bag of apples which can then be used for a fun in-class activity or a special taste test. Groups ride a tractor-pilled wagon the apple orchard for some wholesome fun.

Delicious apples and fun activities are just the cherry on top of our tours, though! It's all about helping kids see firsthand how their food is grown and harvested. Apple student tours cost $7 per student and there is no fee for parent chaperones, teachers and aids as employed by the school. Note that we require a minimum of a 1:5 adult-to-student ratio and that we only offer school tours on Wednesdays through Fridays. Student admission is $7 per student.
