Eckert’s Holiday Fun Gingerbread House Workshop

It’s not often you get the chance to spend quality time with the family while creating something from scratch. At Eckert’s in Belleville, our Gingerbread House Workshop offers the perfect opportunity to bring the entire family together to do something that’s fun and tasty. All ages and groups are welcome to spend time learning how to make an edible house made of pre-baked gingerbread. With guidance from one of our helpful staff members, anyone can easily create a decorative masterpiece.

Our Gingerbread House Workshop is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting the weekend after Thanksgiving and continuing right up to Christmas. If you prefer making a gingerbread house at home, you can stop by and purchase a do-it-yourself gingerbread house.

We Provide the Raw Materials for Your Creations

To participate in this fun project, just show up between 10am - 4pm and choose your desired table to sit at. Everything you need to build a gingerbread house is supplied by us, and that includes the house structure made of sturdy baked gingerbread. Plenty of white icing is on hand for gluing house walls and the roof together. You also receive a selection of yummy candies such as gum drops and candy canes to use for decorations.

Create a Centerpiece for Holiday Decor

Once you get started, you may find that your natural instincts kick in and suddenly you have at least a couple of good gingerbread house ideas. Most of the task evolves around decorating, and that’s a lot of fun. Keep in mind that you get to take your creations home, and these edible houses make charming holiday centerpieces. They can be used to decorate the dining table, side tables, mantles, a coffee table, hallways and family rooms.

A Fun Activity for People of Every Age

Young children love creating their own gingerbread houses, especially once they see how simple it is to do. They can also enjoy sampling the edible decorations as their house design takes shape. Even boisterous toddlers may find the process fascinating for an hour or so.

Teens and adults can have a bit of fun by turning house building into a competition, competing to see who can make the best gingerbread house — we suggest awarding the winner a delectable treat from our bakery. Alternatively, you can simply relax and enjoy the creative process while feeling a sense of deep satisfaction.
